Overview
Financial support for the Center comes from NSF grants and member companies/organizations that form the Industrial Advisory Board. Each company member provides funding, with an initial two-year commitment. Member company dues are used entirely for research and no indirect costs are applied.

Research Areas
The research program is currently focused on the following areas:
   Cross-linking and Film Formation
   Adhesion
   Corrosion
   Design and Modeling
   Surfaces/Interfaces 

While the research program can be modified basedon input received from the Industrial Advisory Board, environmental compliance is an overarching objective of research in all coatings-related areas. Numerous specific projects in these focus area re conducted, and additional projects will be added as capabilities grow. New projects can be tailored to the specific needs of new members.

Patents and Publications
Patents resulting from research projects sponsored by the I/U CRC are administered by the Center. Non-exclusive, royalty-free licenses are available to member companies and organizations and, in certain circumstances, exclusive royalty-bearing licenses may be negotiated. While NSF policy precludes withholding results of NSF supported research from publication, publication may be delayed to allow time for technology evaluation and patent filing.

Faculty, Senior Researchers, and Staff
Members of the faculty and research staff of the I/U CRC institutions enjoy international reputations in their disciplines, both as researchers and educators; they hold many prestigious awards and are active members in national and international organizationsin their disciplines.
