Dr. Lisa K. Kemp

My research involves the macromolecular engineering of polyisobutylene and polyisobutylene-based block copolymers.  My major projects to date have involved: 1) the synthesis and characterization of tapered block copolymers of polyisobutylene and polystyrene by quasiliving cationic polymerization, 2) the functionalization of polyisobutylene using in situ quenching and post-polymerization reactions, and 3) the synthesis of a novel monomer/initiator which combines quasiliving cationic polymerization and atom transfer radical polymerization to create new polymer architectures.
