Page Limitation          16 pages – must end on an even page number

 

Paper Size                   8½” x 11”, printed on one side only

 

Margins                      1¼” right, left, and bottom

1” top

 

Font                             12 pt, Times New Roman

 

Line Spacing               Single, leave one blank line above each heading or sub-heading

 

Justification                Full      

 

Indentation                 ½”

 

Headings                    Major headings – Bold, capitalize first letter only, left justified, start first paragraph text on the following line

Sub-headings – Bold, indented, followed by a period, first paragraph text on the same line after two spaces

 

Page Numbering        Do not print numbers on the front of the pages; pencil markings are permitted on the back of the paper.  Please be sure the paper ends on an even page number. 

 

Title Page                   Center title 1” from top of page (bold, all caps); leave one blank line; center authors’ names with speaker’s name underlined; center company affiliation and address.  Leave two blank lines and center the following information:

Leave two blank lines and center the word ABSTRACT (bold, all caps); leave one blank line and type abstract (400 words or less) as a single indented paragraph. Abstract should be an informative statement concerning the scope and relevance of the work, experimental methods and conclusions or results.

 

Figures                        Figures and graphics should be incorporated in the word processing document file (photographs should be scanned).  If a figure or graphic must be mounted after laser printing, rubber cement or glue stick should be used.  Figures should be black-and-white only, and of a size which is easily legible, including legends and text.  Each figure should have a number and a caption which appear directly below the figure.

 

Tables                         Each table should have a number and heading which appear above the table.

 

References                 References should be numbered in order of their appearance within the text and should be listed at the end of the manuscript in numerical order.

 

Final paper                 A digital word document file and paper copy should be send to the address listed under Mailing Instructions.

 

ORAL PRESENTATION

 

Electronic

Slide Show                  Hardware will be available at THE SYMPOSIUM for electronic

                                    projection of presentations prepared in Microsoft PowerPoint (Windows for PC only) version 6.0 or

                                    higher(PowerPoint 2000 or XP preferred).  Zip drive disk, CD-ROM or USB Storage are acceptable storage

                                    media.  The presentation should be formatted for 1024 x 768 SVGA.  To ensure the presentation will run

                                    properly, the file containing the presentation must be e-mailed to our projectionist at waterborne@usm.edu prior

                                    to Monday, January 14, 2008.  Electronic presenters should bring a hard copy version of their presentation as a

                                    back-up.  Arrangements for video can be made; the hotel will charge you directly for the extra cost (please call

                                    to discuss your needs).

 

Biography                   Electronic copy must be sent to Waterborne@usm.edu no later than Monday, December 1, 2007.

 

Speaker’s

Breakfast                   The Speaker’s Breakfast will begin one hour prior to the morning sessions during each day of THE  SYMPOSIUM.  Exact room assignments will be included in your registration packet. At the Breakfast, you will be advised of equipment procedures for your presentation.  The moderator will be available to answer any questions regarding the session.  Please plan to attend on the day of your presentation.
